The 2022 Best of Beauty

By Caitlyn Chase

Every year I round up my favorite products that I tried or continued using in my beauty rotation. As you know, a big part of my job is to test products for brands and give my honest feedback. I love reviewing all kinds of products and discovering new brands. While all certainly do not make the cut, it’s still definitely difficult to narrow down the best products as there are so many great ones! When considering what makes a product “great” I take a few things into account: quality, ease-of-use, price point, packaging, and overall effectiveness.

Below, you will find my personal list of hopefully your future holy grails and can’t-live-withouts when it comes to cosmetics, haircare, tools, supplements, and beyond!

Haircare

Known for it’s luxe products and superior scents, Oribe is my go-to when it comes to hair washing products. Their signature line is free of parabens, sulfates, and gluten and is also vegan and cruelty-free. This Signature Collection is the best place to start if you’re interested in trying Oribe in the shower!th

One thing I vowed to incorporate into my haircare routine is a blow dry primer/heat protectant. I have noticed a visible difference in my hair this year after I started using this Kérastase primer in my damp hair before I heat styled it. It’s something that is so easy to add into your routine and makes such a big difference in the health of your hair.

Ga.Ma. Italy IQ Perfetto

I fell in love with the Ga.Ma. Italy Professional IQ Perfetto Hair Dryer in 2021 and have not used any of my others since. Not only is it feather weight, but it seems to dry my hair a lot quicker than any other blowdryers I have used in the past.

Now that 90s blowouts are back in style, I have found myself using a round brush a lot more frequently! I love this Medium size Round Brush from Oribe, which is the perfect size to give yourself a bouncy blowout that will last for days.

I have used the DryBar 3-Day Bender 1 Inch Curling Iron for years and years. I’ve had the same one forever, as it’s so durable and such good quality. This iron has been all over the world with me and it’s the only one I trust for my go-to loose waves.

Makeup

The Style Correct concealer pen from Sisley Paris has been a life-saver for me. It’s matte finish blends perfectly into the skin and covers just enough, leaving your texture while taking away any undesirable colors like red or pink.

This super finely milled powder sets makeup for hours and reflects light in a way that makes your skin look super luminous.

I am all about efficiency, so mixing a moisturizer with SPF is a game-changer. I like this Perricone MD product because it’s light and absorbent, going well under makeup or to wear on it’s own on days you feel like having a more natural look.

There is a reason the NARS Laguna Bronzer has been in my arsenal for over ten years. The color is just right, allowing me to use it year-round, no matter how tan I am (or not).

This *may* be my favorite find of the year. I have historically only used powder blush, but these Blush Drops by Rodial made me a total liquid blush convert.

This is another one of those products that has been in my makeup bag since high school. This highlight powder reflects light so nicely and is ideal for a strobing effect.

I use this Valmont l’Elixir des Glaciers Teint Précieux foundation when I have a shoot or an event. It is a full coverage product that blends extremely well into the skin, making your face look velvety and flawless on and off camera.

This Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Studio Kit is the only thing you need for perfect, fluffy brows.

Pillow Talk is my every day lip color. I rarely deviate from these products, as I feel like the color is the perfect tone for daily wear. I get so many compliments on this lipstick color because I think it’s difficult to find a great neutral lip, but this is it!

If you wear foundation daily, the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk product is for you. While lightweight, it offers a good amount of coverage and leaves your skin looking without imperfection.

This is a good every day palette that can transition from day to night. I find myself using the neutrals a lot more than the bright colors, but there is definitely a shade for every occasion. If you have hazel or green eyes like me, I recommend using a little purple in your upper water line to really make your eyes pop!

Bobbi Brown Cream Eyeshadow Stick

The Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow Sticks are amazing to have in your makeup kit. They come in a multitude of colors and are super easy to apply. The cream does not budge and lasts for hours.

Beauty Tools

I have used the NuFACE Trinity for a long time. It is a micro-current facial toning device that improves the look of your skin’s contour, tone, and fine lines and wrinkles.

This 3-in-1 jade facial kit is a great price and comes with everything you need to manually decrease puffiness and stimulate blood circulation. I like to keep these tools in the freezer for extra efficacy.

This device is used and recommended by estheticians, dermatologists, and plastic surgeons, LightStim’s LED light therapy device emits UV-free, beneficial light rays that energize cells and stimulate the body’s natural renewal processes, plumping the skin and naturally erasing fine lines and wrinkles anywhere on the face. LightStim also makes a similar tool for acne which utilizes blue light instead of red.
