20 Cute Brands To Check Out This Spring
By Nadja Sayej
When it comes to spring style, this season is all about uncovering new brands you’ve never heard of. While we all know the big brand names offer cool styles, why not support smaller designers, too? Style in 2023 is all about your own expression, following the beat of your own drum. So instead of following trends, discover new brands that fit your own style.
Whether you are sporty, looking for something super feminine or are obsessed with sequins, here are 15 brands to check out, from a Vancouver-based brand that makes stylish athleisure called French Lime, to BuddyLove, a Dallas-based brand that makes some of the cutest cocktail dresses around.
Rebecca Vallance
This Australian designer has it all. Since Rebecca Vallance launched her brand in 2011, and showing her first collection in Paris, she has taken off as a must-have designer. Her Palais mini dress in pink is ideal for summer parties, but all of her dresses are sure to dazzle (especially the sequin ones). Stars like Lady Gaga and Sienna Miller call themselves fans of the brand. Find her dresses at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, among other boutiques.
SRVC
This British brand was co-founded by designer Ricky Wesley Harriott, who brings strings, threads and asymmetrical fashion to practical womenswear. SRVC stands for “Service” and it’s easy to see why—it serves women in their day-to-day life with comfort and style. Otherwise, what’s the point? Stylistically, Harriott brings a futuristic edge to his designs, and allows women to use SRVC garments to their own style, and has been worn by Solange Knowles and Kendall Jenner. It’s inspired by the strong women who have changed his life. “My aesthetic is rooted in the women I grew up observing; my mother, my step-mother, the women on the estate I grew up around,” he said. “Since I was a child, I was very conscious of the strength and resilience that women were capable of in the face of adversity and mistreatment. I really seek to tell stories inspired by these women I love and continue to encounter, creating a uniform that supports them as they blur the lines between civilian and superhero.”
Thrifts and Threads
Thrifts and Threads was founded by Cuba-born, Miami-based designer Gabriela Prendes, the brand is inspired by craftsmanship. With handmade garments created by artisans in Mexico, this slow fashion brand brings a modern spin to textile traditions. The brand aims to empower women from underdeveloped communities, and keep them employed. Check out their stylish Denim Set, which is inspired by Britney Spears’ Y2K denim-on-denim set.
