Guess Founder Lists Beverly Hills Estate For $63 Million
“Another massive multi-million dollar estate debuts on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) today and FORBES is first to hear about it. Armand Marciano, the co-founder of Guess? Inc has just listed his sprawling Beverly Hills, Calif. estate for a lofty $63 million.
Marciano, one of three French fashion designer brothers to create the publicly traded Guess? a company in 1981, recently finished construction on the 30,000-square foot Mediterranean villa. The seven bedroom, 18 bath mansion boasts a commercial-grade kitchen, a library, a game room, a media screening and projection room and an elevator for those tired of schlepping from one floor to another. There’s also a garage capable of accommodating 17 cars and an extensive wine cellar.
The house sits on a chunk of prime 90210 real estates. The property encompasses 20 acres, including five full acres of flat ground — a rarity in the small, hilly city that remains one of America’s most expensive zip codes. The villa gazes out over the city of Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean and the grounds tout orchards, grape vines and fountains. There is a mosaic-tiled pool, a pool house, an outdoor kitchen with a built-in pizza oven, a tennis court and a guest house. The estate is accessible by a long private driveway behind a gate, a common method of entrance for the area’s residing glitterati.
Marciano’s estate is co-listed with a broker to the rich and famous, Joyce Rey of Coldwell Banker Previews International. In a city where the median list price is $2.3 million (according to Zillow), she says the property is worth the $63 million price tag: “It’s truly one of the most unique properties in Beverly Hills because to have this much land is extremely rare.” It’s too soon yet to gauge buyer interest, but she anticipates the prospective buyer profile to be “a sophisticated individual with a preference for the California lifestyle.” Rey shares the listing with Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency.
The Marciano estate joins other lavish digs on the ultra high-end home market such as the $150 million Spelling Manor in Los Angeles (currently the country’s most expensive home); the price chopped $75 million Tranquility Estate in Lake Tahoe; Manhattan’s $90 million Woolworth Mansion owned by the late Lucille Roberts; and the recently listed $59 Palm Beach estate of late billionaire John Kluge called Casa Sin Nombre.”
