Las Rosadas: 387 acres of bliss

While winter in Southern California often brings clear, blue skies, there’s nothing quite like an escape to Las Rosadas, the spectacular private resort on the lush Pacific coastline of Costalegre, Mexico (no wonder it’s called the “Coast of Joy”!). I had the amazing good fortune of spending time there over the holidays, while much of the country was bogged down in airports and storms.

My days were blissful, starting with a leisurely morning walk through the fantastic grounds or along the pristine shore (the property includes a mile and a quarter of coastline and three extraordinary beaches, plus there’s a turtle preserve and exceptional surfing nearby). I swam in the casita’s sparkling, private swimming pool, had a terrific massage, enjoyed lunch on the beach (the food is divine, and the margaritas are sensational), and whiled away afternoons, as I seldom do, with a good book and the best view in the world. I joined interesting friends for dinner on the oceanfront pool terrace, and oh’d and ah’d at the astounding sunsets along with my companions.

To cap my all-too-brief sojourn, I visited the Costa Careyes Polo Club for the finals of the Southwestern Circuit Congressional Cup. What a thrill to see Memo Gracida and Val Aguilar! (Lots of fun pictures in the Highlights on Instagram!)
