The National Geographic – My Favorite Five!
I love the National Geographic. Not only does the magazine print the most astonishing and inspiring images, but it also encourages amateur and professional photographers to post their photos online through the National Geographic Your Shot community. There, viewers can vote on their favorites, NG photo editors offer their comments and tips, and photographs get selected for online and print features.
Every day, the editors select a Daily Dozen and a Photo of the Day. I’m just dazzled by these recent selections: a photo of northern lights viewed through the tops of snowy trees; an egret that looks like it’s calmly river surfing; a blaze of sunset light pouring off the Matterhorn; this pelican in action; and this fog-scape from Slovakia.
The National Geographic has been published continuously since its first issue in 1888, those distinctive yellow spines decorating miles and miles of bookshelves. Susan Goldberg has served as Editor-in-Chief since April 2014.
