Located next to Calabasas in the San Fernando Valley, the 1.7-square-mile gated city of Hidden Hills feels like a different world compared to the rest of Los Angeles. The welcome sign reads, “Welcome home. Slow down, relax. Children and horses at play.” It sets the stage for the rest of the community, which eschews sidewalks and street lights in favor of lush, large spaces, and massive Hidden Hills luxury real estates. Contemporary farmhouses with reclaimed timber and lumber are a mainstay in the community. Though it feels remote and rural, Hidden Hills offers ready access to the 101 so that residents can easily access other to other parts of the valley and the city.
- Large Lots: Most span over an acre, offering plenty of privacy for homeowners.
- Green Galore: Each lot must be at least 65% green space, which means the neighborhood is bursting with
immaculately manicured lawns. - Equestrian Pursuits: Saddle up and go for a ride on one of the trails.
People & Lifestyle
So, why are A-listers looking for luxury homes in Hidden Hills? Celebrities like Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Drake, and Britney Spears have all flocked to this secluded oasis in part because its gated access and 24-hour security keeps paparazzi and overzealous fans at bay. And because it has the best gated communities, none of the area’s roughly 700 homes show up on Google Maps, either; Google’s photography vehicles have been banned from entertaining.
Equestrian pursuits are a popular pastime in Hidden Hills; as a horse community, it’s not uncommon to see someone riding a horse along an equestrian trail or in riding boots with actual dirt on them in town.
Residents can head to nearby Old Town Calabasas to explore the Leonis Adobe Museum (which was built in 1844 and is one of the oldest surviving private homes in Los Angeles County) or Calabasas State Park. Pedaler’s Form (which includes an organic restaurant, coffee shop, and boutique bicycle shop) is another must-visit place. The weekly Calabasas Farmers Market, which takes place every Saturday and offers a tapestry of fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, meats, flowers, and more, is another area attraction.
