Joyce Rey, Executive Director, Global Luxury at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, joined Giveback Homes four years ago and has been a monthly financial supporter and passionate advocate for the real estate movement.
“I think we as realtors are so fortunate; we have a wonderful business on the Westside of Los Angeles that has enabled all of us to have an outstanding lifestyle when so many are unable to have a roof over their heads. Nothing is more important than supporting every worthwhile charity, but Giveback Homes is special because it is focused on the real estate community and d on the importance of having a home. I am so happy to be one of their supporters.” – Joyce Rey
Here’s what they’ve been up to:
Giveback Homes empowers the real estate community to turn their everyday business into an opportunity to take action for social good. Since 2013, Co-Founders, Caroline Pinal and Blake Andrews, have worked with leaders in the real estate industry, to fund and build more than 300 homes throughout Central America and support over 80 affordable housing projects throughout the United States. Giveback Homes has also provided clean water to communities in El Salvador, Colombia and Bolivia. Today, Giveback Homes has more than 2,000 members from the real estate community who have participated in fundraising events, build days, and international trips to provide safe, affordable housing and clean water for families in need.
To celebrate Joyce’s fourth year as a supporter, we’ve highlighted four ways you can get involved:
1. Support Housing Affordability in Los Angeles
In just five years, Giveback Homes Members have donated over $100,000 to support affordable housing in the greater Los Angeles and have spent 3,500 hours volunteering on the build site. These efforts make it possible for families like the Martinez-Gil family to have a safe place to call home.

2. Giveback Homes Disaster Relief
Giveback Homes partnered with Zillow to launch an agent- focused Disaster Relief fund to support real estate agents and their families who have been impacted by natural disasters. The fund recently helped real estate agents who lost their homes to the recent fires in southern and northern California. Click here to donate or nominate a family in need. 3. Providing Clean Water to Communities in Need
In 2017, Giveback Homes partnered with Waves For Water to empower the real estate industry to give clean water to people in need. Since then, Giveback Homes Members have provided clean drinking water to communities in El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and most recently Bolivia.
In El Salvador, Giveback Homes Members helped five different schools and one community by providing life-changing water filters through Waves For Water. In Puerto Rico, emergency response teams took water filters to Arecibo and Utuado, two towns hit extremely hard by Hurricane Maria. Their bucket filtration system ensured clean water for over a 100 people a day. In Colombia, 100 water filtration systems were distributed in three different communities, empowering families in three distinct indigenous tribes that occupy the nation’s Amazonian region of El Guaviare. Most recently, clean water reached Bolivia. At 14,000 feet, the small rural community in the highest part of of La Paz will now have clean drinking water.
