Lainie Gelber De Mars grew up in Westwood and attended UCLA and Berkeley. After college, she worked for Music Corporation of America, a major theatrical agency. When the agency closed because of a conflict with Universal Studios, she went on to manage two other talent agencies. She and her former husband built and operated one of the first private discotheques in Beverly Hills, where she managed all memberships. When racquetball became popular, Lainie and her husband and their three sons moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for two years, where they built and operated one of the first private racquetball clubs. Upon returning to Los Angeles, one of Lainie’s friends suggested she take the real estate exam and go into real estate. She passed the test and went to work for a young real estate tycoon who had come to Beverly Hills from the island of Malta, at the former Alvarez, Hyland and Young Agency. When he decided to return to Malta, Lainie was hired by Joyce Rey as an executive assistant. For the past twenty-seven years, Lainie has been a loyal and dedicated executive assistant to Joyce enjoying all aspects of Joyce Rey’s amazing career. Lainie is extremely close and proud of her three sons, two of whom are in commercial real estate. She has been re-married for the past seven years. She enjoys her new challenge of skiing and has a love of the ocean since childhood when she spent summers in Newport Beach with her parents, and later sailing on her father’s yachts.
