Meet the Grand Dame of Real Estate
The luxury real estate market is constantly evolving. But my clients can always count on one thing – my unwavering dedication. I’m Joyce Rey, licensed Realtor and Executive Director of Coldwell Banker Global Luxury. As a Beverly Hills real estate agent with over 49 years of experience, I’ve seen the market go through ups and downs, from the high inflation rates of the 1970s to the 2008 mortgage crisis, and more recently, the COVID-19 pandemic.
No matter the temperature of the market, I remain committed to delivering exceptional results. As your partner in real estate, I offer personalized service and discretion, exceeding expectations at every turn. My business model makes use of the latest technology and social media platforms to reflect the changing tastes of today’s luxury buyer.
Get to know Joyce Rey: The Billionaire’s Broker and The First Lady of Luxury Real Estate
A Southern California native, I had an idyllic middle-class upbringing, having been born in Hollywood and growing up in Santa Ana. I taught Business Law at Dorsey High School before traveling to Brazil with my former husband. After earning my Master’s Degree in Business Education from the University of Southern California, applying for a real estate license felt like the next step in my career.
My real estate journey began in 1974 with my first sale – the residence of Christina Onassis, which went to acclaimed theater director and acting teacher Lee Strasberg. This was the first of many landmark sales, which would include distinctive properties like Pickfair, Owlwood, and the Harold Lloyd Estate.
Just five years later, I was invited to establish the first division in the world to exclusively deal in properties valued at $1 million and higher. Since then, I have represented some of the most distinguished properties in the world despite fluctuations in the market and economy. My division has changed ownership three times since its founding in 1979 but my dedication remained steadfast. I was also the first Realtor to have an official website with the proliferation of technology in the 1990s.
Today, I’m connected with Coldwell Banker, a global brand with about 4,000 offices and 84,000 agents around the world. As a top Beverly Hills real estate agent, I’ve generated over $6 billion in sales to date – though nothing gives me more satisfaction than the relationships I’ve built over the years.
I’d love to take you on this journey with me and have you explore the finest homes in Southern California. From the sun-drenched Malibu coastline to the palm tree-lined boulevards of Beverly Hills, I’m here to help you find the kind of luxury property that eludes even the most savvy property investors.
Record-setting real estate sales
What goes into a high-profile real estate sale? When there’s hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, only an experienced Beverly Hills real estate agent can get the job done. There will always be uncertainty in any market – but knowledge and expertise can reduce risk as well as maximize every opportunity to succeed.
Some of my current listings include:
1005 Woodland Drive is a French Country-style compound in Beverly Hills valued at $32,500,000 with gorgeous brick courtyards, a cobblestone driveway, koi pond, and a grotto pool. With more than 12,000 square feet of living space, the main residence has seven elegantly appointed bedrooms.
9152 Janice Place is a modern Beverly Hills mansion with an asking price of $18,900,000. The property has a heated saltwater pool and tub as well as glass walls that offer breathtaking canyon and ocean views.
670 Hot Springs Road, also called Far Afield, is a $68 million historic estate spanning 10.5 acres in the Golden Quadrangle of Montecito. This Mediterranean Villa Estate was built in 1918 by architect Francis T. Underhill and restored in 2017 It features artisanal details throughout with hand-cut French Oak, antique tiles, and reclaimed 17th and 18th-century materials from Europe.
966 Palisades Beach Road is a contemporary beachfront villa in Santa Monica, CA 90403. With a custom staircase, five bedrooms, a resort-style backyard, and infinity pool and spa, the property is priced at $25,000,000.
I’ve had the privilege of representing ultra luxury properties, including the $150 million sale of the Perenchio Estate. Also known as the Chartwell Estate, the 10-acre mega residence located in Bel-Air was sold in 2019. Once home to former Univision CEO and Chairman Jerry Perenchio, the property spans 25,000 square feet with 11 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, a wine cellar, swimming pool, exquisite gardens, and underground tunnels. It was the most expensive listing in the U.S. in November 2018.
The secret to success
Over the decades, I’ve worked with ultra-high-net-worth clients in sports, media, and entertainment. No matter their background, they all have one thing in common: high standards for quality and service. As a Beverly Hills real estate agent, I’ve come to appreciate what top-tier buyers look for in a home.
They’re in search of unrivaled properties that reflect their taste and accomplishment. More than a tangible asset or a prized investment, luxury real estate is a lifestyle enhancement for those who want to be fulfilled in every aspect of their lives. From state-of-the-art security and smart technology, to a coveted address and a sophisticated lifestyle, my job is to listen to what my clients want.
I bring warmth and empathy to each transaction, getting a feel for my clients’ passions and how those passions translate to physical property. With a genuine interest and enthusiasm in their aspirations, I have cultivated life-long partnerships – and friendships – with my clients. When I first work with a client, I always ask what motivates them and what holds them back so that I can find a luxury property that surpasses all expectations.
A lasting legacy
For the industry to thrive, knowledge must be passed down to the next generation of real estate professionals – that’s why I am proud to have mentored an outstanding group of young agents. With superior service and market expertise, my team consistently achieves top rankings each year. By sharing my resources and insight with younger agents, I hope to uphold high levels of service in luxury real estate well into the future.
Despite the demands of the luxury industry, I remain dedicated to raising funds and making contributions to various charitable and philanthropic efforts. Outside of real estate, I am actively involved in the following organizations:
- Coldwell Banker Community Foundation Board
- Southern California Executive Board for UNICEF
- Women Presidents’ Organization
- Trusteeship of the International Women’s Forum
- Los Angeles Library Foundation Advisory Board
- Music Center’s Blue Ribbon
- St. Joseph’s Center for the Homeless
- Children Uniting Nations.
It’s true what they say – real estate is a people business. It is about supporting communities and organizations that change people’s lives for the better. I am the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Los Angeles Board of Realtors as well as recognitions from the National Women’s Political Committee, American Cancer Society, and Anti-Defamation League.

“For over 20 years, we have been blessed to have Joyce Rey handling the family’s real estate transactions. There have been over ten of them, and her time and attention have always been unstinting. She has negotiated the most equitable buys, and the highest sales. The buying and selling of a personal residence involves a great deal of emotion — in the face of which Joyce always maintains an unbelievable level of professionalism.
