New Zaha Hadid Building in China Opens

Another incredible creation by famous female architect, Zaha Hadid! Sky Soho is a massive new mix-used building in Shanghai.

Soho China, the Beijing real estate developer whose billionaire founders have been associated with some of China’s most stylish buildings, formally opened its latest structure designed by award-winning architect Zaha Hadid in Shanghai on Saturday.

Sky Soho takes its inspiration in part from a nearby transportation center on the western side of the city, and resembles four high-speed rail cars interconnected by sky bridges.

Soho said in September that it sold 100,167 square meters of space in the project to online travel firm Ctrip for a consideration of 3 billion yuan, or $488 million. Soho will keep the remaining 128,130 square meters as investment property.

Soho’s other Hadid-designed projects are Galaxy Soho and Wanjing Soho, both located in Beijing.

Zhang Xin and her family ranked No. 30 on the Forbes China Rich List veiled last week with a fortune worth $3.7 billion.
