This Southern California Hotel Is Holding A ‘Bridgerton’ Masquerade Ball For Halloween
As Bridgerton’s Lady Whistledown would say: “The social season is upon us.” And, this fall, to celebrate the still-going-strong Bridgerton craze with proper pomp and circumstance, Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa in California is planning a Halloween bash fit for royals on its beautifully landscaped grounds.
Beginning at 5 p.m. on Oct. 31 (Halloween is a Sunday this year), the Bridgerton Masquerade Halloween Soirée will take place in Estancia La Jolla’s “Secret Garden.” Tickets are $150. Gin cocktails and bubbles will be flowing, unlimited bites abound, and live entertainment will set the soundtrack. Oh, and cue the Regency-era costumes that are sure to stun.
Bridgerton became one of Netflix’s biggest hits of all time, with 82 million households watching Shonda Rhimes’ British period piece in the first month that it streamed. With coronavirus restrictions still in place, the regency romance with Jane Austen-like storytelling and soapy drama was a stay-at-home fix — a little steam to heat up the long, cold winter. But now as vaccination rates increase and people ease back into travel (perhaps not ready to hop the pond just yet), hotels like Estancia La Jolla are getting creative with their royal programming and offering some life-imitates-art experiences.
In addition to the Bridgerton-themed masquerade ball, the property has opened its lush gardens throughout the fall to host Bridgerton inspired Boozy Garden Tea Times. During these tea times, guests can sip Smith Tea selections and gin cocktails like . Sweet treats and savory bites will be served, and a violinist will play today’s hits, taking a cue from Bridgerton’s own soundtrack of modern songs played by a string quartet.
