Reese Witherspoon Picks Up Secluded Charmer in Brentwood for $16M
Actress Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth are the new owners of this elegant estate in Los Angeles. The Academy Award winner and talent agent dropped $15.895 million on the English country house-inspired 9,500 square-footer back in March, according to Variety.
The house sits on a 2.4-acre lot in Brentwood. Its exterior features an asymmetrical façade of stucco and stone, with multi-pane windows and a varied roofline. The recessed entry features a Tudor arch, as well as diamond-paned windows.
The English influence is sustained inside the home, with exposed beams, dark-finished hardwood paneling, and exposed ceiling trusses among the details. Other details include wall niches, built-in shelving, fireplaces with marble surrounds and hardwood or limestone mantels, and plank oak floors.
Amenities in this home include a library, a solarium breakfast room, and a master suite with dual baths. There are two staff bedrooms in the home. Outside, a pool and patio, and an outdoor kitchen, give the property entertainment potential.
The grounds and location were likely as important to the purchase decision as the home itself. The property is situated in a particularly quiet corner of the neighborhood—just west of Crestwood—and the landscaping is semi-forested, with mature trees hemming in the lawns and gardens for a charmingly secluded living style.
In the spring of 2020, the couple quietly sold their mansion in Pacific Palisades for $17 million.
Witherspoon’s lends her voice to Sing 2; the computer-animated film’s all-star cast includes Scarlett Johansson and Matthew McConaughey. Her upcoming projects also include Legally Blonde 3; she is also producing—a hat she wears increasingly often.
