The Literary Feast

I have really enjoyed attending these remarkable events in the past and am looking forward to the upcoming events on November 4th.

The Literary Feasts has been a premiere event in Los Angeles for nearly 2 decades– A program of The Council of The Library Foundation of Los Angeles. In one magical night, over 700 guests will attend one of 45 elegant dinners in the most distinctive homes all over Los Angeles. Each dinner will feature a noted author as the guest of honor, extraordinary food and drink , stimulating conversation. Past Literary Feasts dinners have featured notable writers such as A. Scott Berg, Anita Shreve, James Elroy, Elmore Leonard, Steve Martin, Jane Smiley, Walter Mosley and Michael Chabon, to name a few. All funds raised go to fund the crucial programs of the Los Angeles Public Library and its 72 branches.

What are the Literary Feasts?

Elegant dinner parties held throughout Los Angeles in beautiful private homes, each dinner party featuring a distinguished author as the guest of honor. On one special night, over 700 guests will have the chance to mingle with new and old friends, partake in a wonderful dinner, and meet a favorite author—all while supporting an important cause, the Los Angeles Public Library.

Who benefits?

There are thousands of children and families in Los Angeles who lack the educational resources to read, succeed in school, operate a computer or find a better job. Proceeds from the Literary Feasts will provide the Los Angeles Central Library and its 72 branches with critical support through programs such as Live Homework Help, Reading Clubs and Adult Literacy programs.

When is it?

All Literary Feasts will take place on the evening of Monday, November 4th.

What authors will attend?

Past Literary Feasts dinners have featured notable writers such as A. Scott Berg, Anita Shreve, James Elroy, Elmore Leonard, Steve Martin, Jane Smiley, Walter Mosley and Mary Higgins Clark to name a few. Over 40 distinguished authors are anticipated at the 2013 Literary Feasts.

Is there anything else planned for the authors?

A very special Author Welcome Reception and Dinner will be held on Sunday, November 3rd, beginning with cocktails in the downtown Central Library Rotunda followed by dinner at the prestigious California Club next door. Always a highlight, a “Class Photo” will be taken of all of the guest authors.
